SMU's lesser-targeted receivers were asked to shoulder a bigger load last week against Navy. A week later, after successfully accomplishing their mission, the load might be a little heavier. SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee told reporters on Wednesday that wide receiver Beau Corrales, a transfer from North Carolina, is "probably going to be in the same boat as Jake Bailey," another receiver transfer whom Lashlee said last week would likely miss the rest of the season. Corrales, like Bailey, injured his shoulder in fall camp but did eventually return to the field. Corrales caught a combined six passes for 71 yards in two games played this season.

He suited up for last week's game against Navy, but didn't play. "He's tough," Lashlee said of Corrales. "He tried to go against UCF, he tried to go against TCU, because he wanted to, but probably for both him and Jake the best thing is to get them healthy and get their injuries fixed, so he's probably out." Lashlee said Corrales is "really a prime candidate" to get another year of eligibility if he wanted to pursue it. Corrales has battled injuries for the majority of his college career. He had three surgeries to fix a sports hernia before transferring to SMU. In total, he's played in eight games since the start of the 2020 season. - Dallas Morning News
